A Pregnant Teenager Died After Trying to Get Care in Three Visits to Texas Emergency Rooms

this article is very much talking about pregnant people specifically but this happened almost verbatim to me when doctors thought my organ failure had to do with my uterus, this thing where they just send you home without an exam if they think the problem is anything to do with reproductive organs wasn’t even rare before all this legislation got going. afab people can literally be projectile vomiting and bleeding in an emergency room and be sent home more than once with ibuprofen and now doctors have even more excuse to do it this is so cool and normal

i wasn’t septic (yet) but i got sent home multiple times with breast abscesses from breastfeeding. i don’t know what the fuck is going on with ER docs but y’all gotta get your shit together.

Headlines across eight years. Who you vote for really does matter. None of these headlines delve into the Boar’s Head listeria outbreak because I can only post ten photos in one post. But the slaughter house self regulate headline? Yup, that’s why.

#i dont understand the purpose of trump eliminating food saftey#like. what was the point of that? why did he or anyone in his group think that was a good thing?#i dont get it

They don’t care about anything other than squeezing out one more dollar for themselves. Money they don’t have to spend keeping things up to code and/or paying their workers to keep things up to code is money they can stuff in their pockets.

In fact, there have been multiple cases of companies deciding it’s cheaper (read: more front-end short term profit for them) to pay single person or even class-action lawsuits after their corner-cutting hurts people than to just not put out a shitty product to begin with. Until the lawsuits and federal fines become so punitive that they can’t just write it off as cost of operation, that won’t change. And Trump made it all the easier for them.

“Love is a sacrament that should be taken kneeling”

—Oscar Wilde

Oscar Wilde WAS gay and he DID suck dicks but “love is a sacrament that should be taken kneeling” is not about oral sex. It is not even erotic.

Here’s the rest of the quote. It’s from De Profundis:

“Most people live for love and admiration. But it is by love and admiration that we should live. If any love is shown us we should recognise that we are quite unworthy of it. Nobody is worthy to be loved. The fact that God loves man shows us that in the divine order of ideal things it is written that eternal love is to be given to what is eternally unworthy. Or if that phrase seems to be a bitter one to bear, let us say that everyone is worthy of love, except him who thinks that he is. Love is a sacrament that should be taken kneeling, and Domine, non sum dignus should be on the lips and in the hearts of those who receive it.”

Reports are coming out that Harris is leading in Iowa.

So what does this mean for Iowa voters?

Iowa was red in 2020 and has historically been red. As someone who lives in AZ, a red state that is now a swing state, it is entirely possible to flip a state or at least make the Republican Party sweat. So if you are in Iowa and were considering not voting because “your vote won’t count in a red state anyways”, please get out and vote.

Obviously polls can be inaccurate, but how great would it be if we could flip a state that republicans considered an easy victory?

Iowa also allows same day in person registration!!! So if you are over 18 and a U.S. citizen who resides in Iowa it is not too late! Click here for info on voting in Iowa: https://voterready.iowa.gov/registertovote/
