Attention Pennsylvania voters!

Senator Bob Casey’s race is now at a margin of 0.53%.

screenshot of pennsylvania elections 2024 general election results page taken at 1:56 pm EST showing bob casey with 48.45% and dave mccormick with 48.98%ALT

An automatic recount in PA is triggered with a margin of 0.5%. That’s a difference of 0.03% or a little over 2,000 votes. We need to make sure every ballot is counted here, and there’s thousands of uncounted ballots right now due to voter error.

Did you mail in a ballot? Check to see it was accepted here:

If it says anything other than accepted/counted/etc, your ballot needs your attention. A mistake in filling it out means that your ballot will not count unless you “cure” it. Check your county’s curing policies:

See full instructions for curing by county here.

You have until November 12 to cure your ballot in PA.

Do you know someone who mailed in a PA ballot? Please pass these links on to them. You may be the difference between their vote counting or not in a super close race.

Everyone else, you can help PA voters cure their ballots. If you live in Pennsylvania, you can help canvass in your county (see links in this thread). If you are in another state, you can sign up to call voters and help them cure by phone.

Want to help another state? Sign up for a shift through November 19.

Steve From “Blue’s Clues” Just Checked In On “The Kids He Raised” And Gave Them A Safe Space To Offload After Donald Trump’s Election Victory.

Interestingly, Steve doesn’t even speak in the 59-second video, but appears to give viewers a comforting presence as he enters the outdoors shot and “offers them” a hot drink.

And many of the comments thanked Steve for offering them this safe space, with one person writing: “As a trans man, I felt this to my core. I took the breath with you then started bawling. Thank you.”

“The man who is a staple of my childhood didn’t say a single word and it brought me to tears. Steve, thank you. I don’t know where we go from here,” somebody else wrote.

Another popular comment reads: “He didn’t say A WORD and said everything at the same time. This man should be guarded at all costs.”

“Neither of my dads checked in on me today. But you did Steve. Thank you,” one more acknowledged.

“So much responsibility on Steve’s hands to make sure we are okay. We need to make sure he’s doing okay too. I mean I’m not doing great, but he’s still looking after the kids he raised,” somebody else added.

While another concluded: “I bet you didn’t think you’d still be raising us all these years later, Steve, but thank you for still being here.”

I met Steve at Comic Con a couple years ago. I told him, “thank you for being there for me as a kid when it felt like no one else was. He responded “no, thank you for all your help; without you, I’d still be trying to figure out what Blue wanted for her snack!” and I had to try very hard not to cry, he was so nice.

hello again (bill clinton limewire voice) my fellow americans

There are a few states that actually have Shield/Refuge laws designed to help trans people fleeing from trans-unsafe states, which also guarantee trans folks access to healthcare. These states are:

  • California
  • Colorado
  • Illinois
  • Oregon
  • Vermont
  • Washington
  • Minnesota
  • New Mexico
  • Maine
  • Massachusetts
  • Rhode Island
  • Connecticut
  • Washington D.C.

Additionally, some states have “trans sanctuary” executive orders signifying safety for trans folks seeking healthcare. These states are:

  • Maryland
  • New Jersey
  • New York

Living as a resident in these states means you are protected by state’s rights and state government to continue or begin receiving trans healthcare. These laws have been codified in their states so everything has been a-ok’d by their state governments.

Stay alive. You got this. I love you.

Black folx don’t get caught slippin. Crosscheck this list with these maps made by and thoroughly researched by tougaloo college.

This morning there was a nation-wide text spam campaign targeting Black Americans (largely students) telling them that they’ve been selected to pick cotton and will be picked up to be sent to a plantation after Trump’s inauguration.

People online are making jokes about it, but it’s genuinely a disturbing sign. Someone was emboldened enough to intentionally run a background on thousands of young Black people and send them racist messages the day after a very exhausting and stressful election.

Please boost this if you can!!! This story is still developing and a lot of the people who have been getting the messages say they’re scared to leave home now.

Hi. Things are bleak, I know that. I know that we paid for Trump’s last term with blood and it is likely the price will be blood again.

But listen to me. LISTEN.

You do not have to force yourself to witness horrors as an act of activism. It is not a form of activism. You can put your phone down, you can block that horrific video. We cannot win if you cannot fight and you will not be able to fight if you are hopeless.

Do not let them guilt you into this. People who are exhausted are easier to walk over. Take care of yourself, find community where you find joy.

You do not have to force yourself to witness horrors as an act of activism. It is not a form of activism.

^^^ remember this. do not exhaust yourself into hopelessness. take care of yourself and stay strong.

I know I’ve recced it before, but if you want a place to monitor the news while avoiding getting caught in the horrors, What The Fuck Just Happened Today is a really useful resource. They summarize political (& adjacent) news so you can remain aware of what’s going on while still minimizing the emotional energy you expend on any one issue. (And they provide links and sourcing if you need to know more.)
