President Trump targeted the organization and a few others in a Feb. 19 executive order aiming to shrink the federal government

Employees of Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency entered the U.S. Institute of Peace despite protests from the nonprofit that it is not part of the executive branch and is instead an independent agency.

The organization’s CEO, George Moose, said, “DOGE has broken into our building.”

Peter Donde was a 10-year-old infected with H.I.V. from his mother during childbirth. But American aid kept Peter strong even as his parents died from AIDS. A program started by President George W. Bush called PEPFAR saved 26 million lives from AIDS, and one was Peter’s.

Under PEPFAR, an outreach health worker ensured that Peter and other AIDS orphans got their medicines. Then in January, Trump and Musk effectively shuttered the U.S. Agency for International Development, perhaps illegally, and that PEPFAR outreach program ended. Orphans were on their own.

Without the help of the community health worker, Peter was unable to get his medicines, so he became sick and died in late February, according to Moses Okeny Labani, a health outreach worker who helped manage care for Peter and 144 other vulnerable children.

fuck everyone who voted for Trump, and particularly fuck everyone who said it didn’t matter who won, who said there was some higher point to prove by having Democrats lose, fuck everything, this ocean of blood and human suffering is all your fault and it a far and just universe you would all burn in hell for it.

TSLA hit its all time high of $488.50 on 15 DEC 2024. To reach of a price of $114.00 would be a 76.7% drop. That’s huge, right?

Yeah well, when I checked the price just now (12 MAR 2025 @ 1:31 PM EDT), TSLA is currently trading at $250.85. That’s down 48.6% from the high.

Babes, we’re already nearly two-thirds of the way there.

TSLA $114.00. I believe this is where I say ‘like to charge, reblog to cast.’

let it be so

Clown cars actually operate on two opposite sides of a bell curve – the most average-sized cars transporting a sensible amount of people are the least clown cars. So while the more famous type of clown car is the comically tiny vehicle that can fit an absurdly large amount of clowns inside, a huge fuck-off giant pavement princess ego truck that is only used for transporting the driver around is also a clown car.

You know, with all the trouble over the live action Snow White remake and how long it’s actually taken to make it, it would have been the perfect opportunity for another studio to make a film about Adriana Caselotti, who voiced Snow White but wasn’t even told she was working on a full length film and only realised it at the premiere, was paid only $970 (roughly $21,217 in 2024) for the job, wasn’t credited for the role and basically had her career in films ruined before it even started, because dear old Walt Disney refused to let her take other roles: ‘I’m sorry, but that voice can’t be used anywhere. I don’t want to spoil the illusion of Snow White.’

The frozen, confused smile on my face. Reading this was a horrifying moment. Take it away.

Sometimes you have to take a step back and remember that same-sex marriage has only been legal in America for ten years.

I know that it seems like it’s been this way forever, but when they were leaving it up to the states and Indiana legalized it for a whole 24 hours before Mike Pence got wise to it- me and a bunch of strangers ran around the city hall block with a rainbow flag because we were so happy. People were getting married on the spot because they’d been waiting so long and we didn’t know if the ruling was going to stick.

It’s wild to think about how much has changed just in my lifetime. Sodomy was a crime until 2003. Don’t Ask Don’t Tell was both enacted and repealed in my life.

The processes are slower than we want, but in retrospect- a lot has changed since the 90s.

My wife and I were the first same sex couple to get married in my county. I grew up just wanting to be left the fuck alone–the idea of getting married wasn’t even on my radar.

I worked for campaigns and got angry and it felt like things were fucking hopeless all the time. But I learned that…everything breaks. Everything passes. Nothing Lasts. This sounds like a sad thing, and it’s that, too, but it’s also: Everything breaks. Even the night. Everything passes. Even the storm. Nothing lasts. Even the nightmare.

I deeply suspect things are going to be very difficult for a few years. And that we will spend about a decade or so, maybe more, playing cleanup crew. But that’s okay. As long as we don’t give up, you can strain the dam until it bursts, and then the river will go places it never dreamed of. Commit to the hard work of a few years. Commit to the suck. People are doing things. I promise. You can do them too.

When I was 18, I wanted to be left in peace. When I was 28, I was married. It was worth the fight. Even when it felt hopeless. Even when I failed again and again.
