wait do people read first person stories and think they’re the ones in the story???

Saw people talking about not liking first person, which is fair, but their reasoning was like “I would not do that” and I don’t understand that mindset.

First person stories are still about a character. A character making their own decisions. First person isn’t about you???? At least I thought it wasn’t. What am I missing? I’ve always seen first person as just a more in-depth look into a character’s mind and stricter POV. Not as a reader stand-in.

I see first person stories like I’m sitting down across from the narrator getting the wildest tea imaginable

oh right and it was placed on a model offering table with small model bread and drinking cup

sometimes a cucumber really is a cucumber.

Some poor sculptor went through the effort to make this shape look as much as possible like a cucumber and avoid the incredibly slippery slope to dick, and this is how people treat their efforts.

In 2018 a mlm dating sim came out, was beloved for like a week, then dataminers found assets from a scrapped Halloween DLC gag ending where one of the love interests was a Satanist, and the whole website decided that that meant the whole game was secretly homophobic and started straight up lying about transphobic elements being in the game (they weren’t).
