not interested in getting involved in the rest of this discussion, for the most part, but to me this is a GREAT piece of advice that many people these days don’t seem to be getting or understanding.
not everyone you meet or interact with is your friend, the requirements and expectations for respectful behaviour between friends is not the same as between strangers.
So I looked up why and how this happened, and it turns out Weird Al hired a company called Birdhouse Skateboards to provide some “skate/punk” extras for the video. Birdhouse Skateboards is a company started by Tony Hawk, so not only did Weird Al end up putting Tony Hawk in his video without realizing it, he actually hired Tony Hawk’s company without realizing it! And then Tony Hawk just decided to go along as one of the extras himself.
BTW, he’d already won like 40 contests already, some of them international skateboarding contests. So it’s not like Weird Al cast some unknown skateboarder who ended up becoming World Famous Skateboarder, he was already well known and was running his own Skateboarding company.
Think of it this way. This wasn’t ‘Weird Al got Tony Hawk to be in his video’, this was ‘Tony Hawk found a way to be in a Weird Al Video.’

I wish there were medieval fantasy written by people who actually found the medieval period interesting
I don’t mean grittiness I mean like anthropologically. The medieval period was fucking weird and the people who lived through it had fundamentally different perspectives on how the world works than even very religious modern people, reading a medieval fantasy shouldn’t feel like I’m just reading a contemporary person running around with a sword.
You need to be aware you are asking me to write a novel about radical religious groups in the 1600s that defended cows put on trial, about frost resistant turnips, about Charles I getting stuck in a window whilst trying to escape, about people putting their heads in sewers to overcome illness they believed caused by bad smells, and about the Bigod Rising which was so unpopular they only got like 300 rebels and ended up being killed.
You are aware of this, yes?
I would not ask anyone who thinks the 17th century counts as medieval to write a book even loosely inspired by the Middle Ages, no.

I think the reason so many of those right-leaning tech startups and apps and websites keep failing over and over is because the moment you cut yourself off from trans people and furries, you essentially remove like 86% of the world’s strongest programming workforce from your selection pool
They actually make physical media for a much larger percentage of movies than they ever did in the past. Often with a lot more care than any small release was treated in the early dvd days. Its just if you only watch streaming stuff or the big new recent box office hits you won’t see that. It is so ridiculously easy to get physical media for movies that even 5 years ago you couldn’t even find. Like yes Netflix is a stingy bastard but so many things are available on disc WITH special features than ever before
