So apparently this is actually the “I ❤️ Sucking Nazi Dick” website
Antifascist Jew here to say, maybe we have different understandings of what “trying to make amends” means, but if someone is actively, substantively educating themselves and participating/contributing to the healing the communities they once terrorized, then yeah I can absolutely forgive them. Who am I to fucking undermine someone’s deradicalization?
In Are Prisons Obsolete? by Angela Y. Davis, she tells the story of Amy Biehl, a Fulbright scholar and anti-Apartheid activist who, in 1993, was dragged from her car and stabbed to death by an antiwhite mob in South Africa. In 1997, Biehl’s parents petitioned for the attackers’ amnesty at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Two of the attackers later met with the Biehls to express their deep sorrow and remorse. The Biehls asked the men to join the Amy Biehl Foundation, where they became leaders of their community. They later traveled with the Biehls to give talks together on reconciliation and restorative justice.
You cannot force someone to grow, but if they are growing, you must grant them the room to do so.

“I could never forgive having a Nazi phase” says person currently having a Nazi phase.
So, I want to talk about this post.
Firstly, I see a lot of people equivocating about the word choice in the comments. “Well I couldn’t FORGIVE them but I wouldn’t hate them” “Forgive is a REALLY strong word” and “If it’s the person themselves calling it a "phase” that is a red flag" are the main things I see.
I think those people are missing the forest for the trees in a desire to not engage with the actual question being asked here.
The next category of people I see are those demanding more “details” or more “context” – “Is this person ACTUALLY trying to make amends?” “How old is "adult”?“ "Well if they were a former friend, then…” “Idk it really depends on so many factors…”
Again, these folks are refusing to actually engage with the question being asked here:
Can you forgive people who do serious wrong, who change, and try to do better?
Leaving one of these hate groups is not only difficult, it is often dangerous, isolating, and lonely.
These hate groups are usually high-control groups, meaning that they cut people off from outside friendships and relationships and replace every interaction with the group. So if you leave, you have zero friends, zero support.
Now, neither I nor this poll is saying that you personally have to forgive every neonazi, MAGA-head, Qanon cultist, etc. you meet online. It’s just asking if you ever, under any circumstances, would do so.
What is a better world: where people stay in hate groups, or get out of those hate groups and become allies? Because once they’re out, it’s not like it’s impossible to get back in. The nazis will gladly take them back if they want to return.
And if you feel that people who do things like this don’t deserve friendships afterwards, don’t deserve a life with human connection, and deserve to live alone and friendless for the rest of their life… How are they supposed to actually do good in the world isolated like that?
“Well you can’t expect everyone to forgive them!”
I’m not. The polls is asking if YOU would.
“Well, other people might forgive, but not ME!”
If not you, then who?
If you treat people who have put in the work to escape fascist indoctrination as if they are members of “the fallen,” demons who, upon having turned the path of goodness, are now damned forever to hell, cursed to endless darkness, and can never return to the light -> you’re not progressive.
You might like to think you’re progressive, but your moral framework is completely indistinguishable from the moral framework of a conservative evangelical christian zealot.
You don’t actually believe in progress.
Progress is change for the better. To be progressive, you have to believe the world can change for the better. To believe the world can change for the better, you have to believe that people can change for the better.
the problem with everyone becoming a reviewer and essayist now is that, plainly and gently, a lot of these people are not smart enough for the position
the holidays are never officially here until i see the christmas light extension cord of death by electricity and I have yet to see it.
gotta do everything myself around here
people keep tagging this as homophobia
@words-writ-in-starlight To answer the “what the fuck is that” tag: a male-male “suicide cord” is typically what dudes who know just enough about electricity to be dangerous do when the power is out and they bought a generator in a hurry. Plug one end into the generator, plug one end into your house, boom, you’re backfeeding the panel, you have power.
Problem 1: When you plug one end in, the other end is now live, so even the lightest touch will electrocute you.
Problem 2: backfeeding doesn’t stop at your panel unless you have a special disconnect in place, so if a utility worker is trying to get your neighborhood their power back and you’re backfeeding into the local grid, you might electrocute them, too.
Problem 3: Assuming you don’t kill the lineman and they get your power back on, you know have two sources of power running at the same time, through the same breaker. That will probably just fuck up your generator, but you might also set some of the wiring in your walls on fire.
There are other use cases for this but the generator one is the most common. Anyway, never make one of these. If you see one for sale do not buy it. If you see one in use, consider fleeing that situation.
The former prep-school valedictorian was caught with a gun, silencer, four fake IDs with names used during the killer’s stint in New York City — and a manifesto, sources said.
The manifesto railed against the US healthcare industry, including over its enormous profits and alleged shady motives, sources said.
Mangione had a particularly personal reason to hate the medical community — its treatment of an ailing relative, sources said.
Online obituaries show he lost a grandmother in 2013 and grandfather in 2017.
His LinkedIn page indicates that he once worked in an assisted-living facility for the elderly for a few months in 2014, while still in high school.
There it is.
Wait, here’s more at the dynamic/updating CNN article:
Among the lines in the two-page document found on “strong person of interest” Luigi Mangione are the following two quotes: “These parasites had it coming” and “I do apologize for any strife and trauma, but it had to be done,” a police official who has seen the document told CNN.
In the note, Mangione says he acted alone and that he was self-funded.
The document railed against the health care industry and suggested violence is the answer, according to the official.
my favorite picture ever is the one that says “HELL IS FULL, BITCH” and then it has the national suicide prevention hotline on it. it makes me smile every time

The Gävle goat is getting a lot of attention around here, but I would like to make a case for a couple of other Swedish Christmas goats: The Kävlinge “Horny Goats”.
It has been a Christmas tradition in the town of Kävlinge since 2015 to put up a pair of goats in a traffic circle. And for just as long, there has been a somewhat more inofficial tradition that someone will move those two goats into a mating position, giving them the nickname “kåtbockarna” (literally “the horny goats”, a Swedish term similar to the English “horndog”).
One year an unknown person even put up three smaller goats around the two large ones, to indicate that they’ve had children.
This year, however, the goats have been positioned in a somewhat less intimate position, simply kissing eachother:
Swedish television news did a short feature where they interviewed citizens of Kävlinge about this latest change, and most of them expressed disappointment, apparently preferring the “horny” version.
Considering that “bock” usually refers to males of the species, this means that Kävlinge has had a public display of gay sex each Christmas for several years, enthusiastically supported by its citizens. I think that’s a Christmas tradition well worth celebrating.
Is so funny. I drive by Kävlinge often. They are not set up to be like that. The two goats are put up side by side, and then later, some people change them around into the mating pose. And the figthing begins of putting them back to normal and then mating. I will drive into kävlinge and one day see them kissing or standing side by side, and the next day, they are mating.
It’s also just not Kävlinge. I drive and have been around skåne a lot, and every time there are two goats it a roundabout or anyplace. They are most likely mating because people just love to put them in the mating position. And other people get so mad over it, too. It’s a really funny battle to see happening in so many places.
The moral of the story is that the bockar will fuck even if you try to stop them.
Adding on to this again. Someone has now put scarves and four Christmas ornaments on the goats… as balls. They both got 2 pair of red balls now!
