Turkish student at Tufts University detained, video shows masked people handcuffing her

SOMERVILLE, Mass. (AP) — A Turkish national and doctoral student at Tufts University has been detained by U.S. Department of Homeland Security agents without explanation, her lawyer said Wednesday.

Rumeysa Ozturk, 30, had just left her home in Somerville on Tuesday night when she was stopped, lawyer Mahsa Khanbabai said in a petition filed in Boston federal court.

Video obtained by The Associated Press appears to show six people, their faces covered, taking away Ozturk’s phone as she yells and is handcuffed.

“We’re the police,” members of the group are heard saying in the video.

A man is heard asking, “Why are you hiding your faces?”

The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg called the Trump White House’s bluff, and published all the explosive details (paywall) about a private Signal group chat that, contrary to administration LIES, did indeed contain sensitive military strike plans.

They called him a liar. He posted the receipts.

Shit is flying.

an article from PBS that only has a snippet, but is not paywalled

Edit: here’s MSN, which has more details

Fully unpaywalled Atlantic here. Finally.

As a navy vet, who worked on an aircraft carrier, prepping and caring for F-18’s:

I am NAUSEOUS about the fact that these chucklefucks shared CLASSIFIED INFORMATION in a fucking SIGNAL CHAT. Completely terrifying. I wasn’t even allowed to take photos of our flight schedules (that didn’t even have mission names!) because they had lunch and landing times and yes, those were classified. They were Secret level information.

You know how my mom and I had to communicate about which month I was coming home from deployment? With freaking code.

Aircraft carriers regularly go into modes where they lock down all outgoing data and you don’t get internet access during those times. OPSEC is HIGH priority.

This BLATANT disregard for OPSEC is horrifying and should disgust EVERY active duty member and veteran in this country. It is sadly hilarious they dared even mention keeping OPSEC in that chat.

These people are a shame on this country.

(I know I don’t get like this often, I apologize)

It is the only surviving fragment of a lost medieval manuscript telling the tale of Merlin and the early heroic years of King Arthur’s court.

In it, the magician becomes a blind harpist who later vanishes into thin air. He will then reappear as a balding child who issues edicts to King Arthur wearing no underwear.

The shape-shifting Merlin – whose powers apparently stem from being the son of a woman impregnated by the devil – asks to bear Arthur’s standard (a flag bearing his coat of arms) on the battlefield. The king agrees – a good decision it turns out – for Merlin is destined to turn up with a handy secret weapon: a magic, fire-breathing dragon.

The way they did this is actually incredibly cool. They used equipment from the zoology department of the University of Cambridge. This was so accurate they even got the annotations on the side. They also made a 3D-model of both the manuscript and the binding.
