Once knew a guy from LARP who told a story about when he had first gotten his hands on chainmail and was getting used to wearing it and maintaining mobility and balance with the weight of it (it was heavy stuff). So he started wearing it under his clothes when he was out running errands and stuff to practice for when he had to wear it in mock combat.
Then one night he was coming home late and got mugged by a dude with a knife.
Apparently the look on the dude’s face was amazing when he went in to gut the guy for his wallet and found out he was wearing medieval armor under his hoodie.
So, you know. Pretty good argument for wearing it under streetclothes!
People will occasionally ask me why I am mad at non-voters or protest voters on the left instead of Republicans. Which is a misunderstanding. I AM mad at Republicans. I know who my enemies are.
But when you have a friend who looks down on you, says they care about you and your loved ones, but actively works against anything that might be good for you, sabotages you, sneers at you for being angry or hurt by it, makes choices that do you harm, and knowingly leaves you under the power of abusers… At some point you have to stop and ask yourself if that person is really a friend, you know?
Yes- because at least the Republicans are probably voting for something they believe in and want. Though there is a lot of very frustrating stupidity there with the Trump voters. Non-voters and third party voters are essentially voting Republican because of how our government works but they’ll throw a fit if you point that out. They can claim that they care about democracy and LGBTQ rights and people of color but they’ll ego trip instead of making the small sacrifice of picking the less crazy option every time even though it sucks. Voting isn’t a instagram post, it’s doing the dishes. It’s not fun and it’s not glamorous, it’s a responsibility we have as adult citizens
Too many writers are using generative ‘AI’ to make their book covers, so I’ve written a guide on how to make your own cover for free or cheap without turning to a machine.
If you can’t afford to pay an artist, you CAN make your own!
I hope this is a helpful overview that covers the basics and points to some free resources.
I annoyed my cat by writing this and not playing with her; you might find it useful?
