Australians have the best methods of speech in the world. I love this for us.
I have no idea what this is supposed to mean
As a Kiwi I’ll try to translate our esteemed trans-tasman neighbours’ dialect for everyone else:
“Hello good sir. I’m presently taking care of my son, and my partner finishes work at 3 o’clock; when she gets home, I’ll drive to your house in her little car to do the quote.”
It tracks what legislature and executive orders have been signed/passed or are being considered and it provides the schedule, and location of the President.
There are numerous things to be worried about with this administration, but I’d like to bring attention to this executive order.
This is likely why Musk, Zuckerberg, Bezos, Chew, and other AI and tech billionaires were there. They, and other people like Trump and co, view themselves as leaders in tech, AI, and “science”. Except they’re all business in the worst ways possible. You’re not seeing research publications come out from these names in any capacity. They’re there to advise the President on how to exploit science and technology in the worst way possible.
The other likely nefarious motivation is that they get to solicit all government institutions, universities, and science and research bodies for information in order to “advise” the President. Then after 2 years they get to leave with all that information having been made available to them.
You don’t think these tech billionaires and co aren’t itching at the chance to get access to research before it’s published and circulated? That they get access to information that might even be proprietary, private, or some level of classified because they are presidential advisors?
Also consider that this is a way for disgraced scientists that engage in things like climate change denialism and antivax rhetoric to become presidential advisors as well. Many of these scientists are not respected in the scientific community for letting their personal biases, beliefs, and lack of morals (e.g. taking bribes to publish fake results) compromise and undermine the work that is and has been done. They’ve long since been kicked out and relegated to political think groups where they can “research” and “publish” all day long and scream into their echo chamber.
There is no way they actually put reputable scientists on this advisory board and let them run it as it should hypothetically be. If they do and it does run that way then I will be pleasantly surprised. But consider who this president is, who he pals around with, and who the sycophants have been lately.
it’s been said before but the fact this site used to let you edit other people’s posts is beyond unhinged. the potential for slander was next level, you really could just edit the body of posts that weren’t even your own and it’d look like the OP said it. just casually spread misinformation via reblog, the original post being lost to time. john green cock monologue. sayonara you weeaboo shits. they gave us way too much power. can you imagine if a website let you do that today? people would lose their fucking minds. sure, on twitter you can impersonate anybody, but you have to make your own tweets. they would never let you edit other people’s tweets! that’s stupid! it’s literally the worst feature any social media site could ever have! if it ever happened somewhere else, it would be by accident and fixed immediately! but on old school tumblr? yeah, you could edit someone’s childhood fear from vampires to danny devito, and we all just had to live like that for years. INSANE.
@babytrain I AM PUTTING YOU ON BLAST???!!! MISS MA’AM DO YOU KNOW HOW ICONIC YOU ARE????
If you enjoy random videos people doing their craft really well as background noise, then may I suggest this dressmaker I just stumbled across, because I want everything she’s ever made and holy crap, the SKILL.
Scientists analyzed coal ash from power plants across the United States and found it could contain up to 11 million tons of rare earth elements — nearly eight times the amount the US has in domestic reserves — worth around $8.4 billion, according to recent research led by the University of Texas at Austin. It offers a huge potential source of domestic rare earth elements without the need for new mining, said Bridget Scanlon, a study author and research professor at UT’s Jackson School of Geosciences. “This really exemplifies the ‘trash to treasure’ mantra,” she said. “We’re basically trying to close the cycle and use waste and recover resources in the waste.”
Courts issued a temporary stay on the government funding freeze with just minutes left before the deadline. Situation’s still very chaotic but things are on pause for now; fallout will become more obvious once the dust settles
The OMB has fully cancelled their attempt at freezing funding for 2,600+ government programs.
These people are not invincible. They are susceptible to pushback and pressure. Our job is to keep them under pressure
