time of year i remind every cane user to get an ice pick so you dont fall and die

almost biffed it in a fucking parking lot so time for me to repeat this. if you are a cane user in the northern hemisphere its time to get an ice spike coming in the mail BEFORE the ice forms.

Look, I dont know a lot about saints and Catholicism, but I know St. Agatha is always depicted with her breasts on a plate, and that’s sure something

Just a few more. This is a big trend.

Things I learned from the comments

  • She’s a patron saint of rape and abuse victims
  • She took a vow a chastity
  • A low born guy demanded her to be with him and she turned him down
  • For this she was imprisoned and tortured. This is how she lost her breasts (details not required)
  • She was repeatedly raped.
  • The Catholic Church regards her as a virgin for her peity despite the rape. (No matter your views on virginity this is a pretty interesting statement)
  • She was sentenced to death to burn at the stake but was saved by an earthquake
  • In her holiday people make titty cupcakes

I didn’t know she existed and now I think she’s a pretty rad woman. I would hesitate calling her a protofeminist as some often do with amazing women in history but she is pretty cool. Also she’s still very relevant today as women are still treated the way she was.

other things i learned: damn historic artists drew a woman with her own tits on a plate with Cleavage and prominent nip nops???

When is titty cupcake day?

the default way for things to taste is good. we know this because “tasty” means something tastes good. conversely, from the words “smelly” and “noisy” we can conclude that the default way for things to smell and sound is bad. interestingly there are no corresponding adjectives for the senses of sight and touch. the inescapable conclusion is that the most ordinary object possible is invisible and intangible, produces a hideous cacophony, smells terrible, but tastes delicious. and yet this description matches no object or phenomenon known to science or human experience. so what the fuck

this is what ancient greek philosophy is like

False! “Sightly” is a positive word, so the default way for things to work is good as well.

The true most ordinary object is beautiful, horrible sounding, very smelly, intangible, and delicious.

I still don’t think it matches anything in existence but to truly understand a thing one must know its true nature.

“touchy” is also a word! however it’s mostly used for things that aren’t objects, like subjects of conversation. it either means “oversensitive and irritable” or “requires careful handling/wording, delicate”

i think the second one works well for our hypothetical object. so we can use that.

therefore, the Default Object is:

  • beautiful
  • makes a horrendous sound
  • smells absolutely awful
  • is very fragile
  • tastes delicious

and i still cannot think of anything that matches this

behold, the default object!

DEFAULT OBJECT FOUND

shot-thru-the-art:

a dusky teal room painted with pale skeleton trees. there is a bed with a whote upholstered headboard and a white coverlet. a white crown is mounted on the wall above the headboard and tulle cascades down behind and around the headboard. there are 2 small bedside stands on either side and each has a glass Turkish lamp. the room is small but there is a window letting in some light ALT

I painted our guest room in winter ’21/’22. It took about 3 months and at least 5 audiobooks.

Trees are the best because as long as you taper your strokes you can’t really make a mistake. I didn’t have to bother with sketches or planning.

same room but with a lamp turned on casting a warm glow in the dark forest. it is night time ALT
same room at night zoomed out ALT

Here are the Behr paints I used (but I didn’t end up using Dragonfly):

hand holding behr paint sample cards: melting moment, fresh tone, green meets blue, dragonfly. it's a gradient of muted tealsALT

Some progress shots:

progress photo with more trees ALT
progress picture. there are only 2 trees on the wall and a stepladder is set upALT

The canopy crown for the bed was black but I painted it and then detailed it with a sharpie to make it match the “distressed” white end tables.

black canopy crown half painted white. a hand holds a paintbrush ALT

I’ve since learned more about trees and realized that a real forest would be more straight trunks and less tangly branches but I regret nothing because the tangles were the most fun to paint.

another progress pic but there are many more trees, including on the trim ALT
