The purging of federal employees carried out by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) somehow just keeps cutting staffers involved in investigating Elon Musk’s companies. According to a report from Reuters, several employees at the US Food and Drug Administration who were tasked with managing reviews and applications related to Musk’s Neuralink received pink slips over the weekend.
Per Reuters, 20 people who worked in the FDA’s office of neurological and physical medicine devices got axed as part of a broader effort being carried out by DOGE to cut down the federal workforce. Several of those employees worked directly on Neuralink, Musk’s company that produces brain-computer interfaces designed to be implanted in a human brain, and were tasked with reviewing clinical trial applications.
LISTEN. Do I like this?? NO, absolutely not, fuck the planet burning automatic plagiarism machine!
BUT! Look at me. LOOK AT ME!
It is VITAL that we do not flame in the tag. Do you know what will happen then?? PEOPLE WILL STOP TAGGING FOR GENERATIVE AI!!!
If you want to preserve your ability to filter a lot of this nonsense out? WALK AWAY. Rant on here, rant to your friends, rant in Discord, but DO NOT make asshole comments on these works!!!
Yeah. If they stop tagging their work for this, your blocking of the tag won’t keep them out of your searches.
In fact, don’t give stories with this tag engagement of any kind. Don’t give them hits. Don’t give them comments. Leave them to rot in the field with nothing to suggest to other readers that they contain anything worth seeing.
The one thing we have going for us is that people who use chat gpt/midjourney/any generative AI crap is that they are, for some reason, weirdly proud of it. Why is that good?
Because they tag their stuff as AI/midjourney/chatgpt/etc. Which means that whenever i see some weird art that strikes me as a little uncanny, instead of being a dick and say “this was made by ai!!!” with zero proof as some of you guys do, i can simply go to OP’s original post and see their tags. If its AI crap, 99% of the time it’ll be tagged as such bc for some reason they thing its a cool flex? (It baffles me as to why, but hey. Its good that they tag it as such).
Make posts mocking AI bros, tell off people who feed other’s fic to chatgpt to “see it finished”, do all that to your hearts content. But don’t flame their tags.
We need them to keep being dumb enough to tag it as AI because ita getting harder to tell from the get-go if something is weird bc of the artist’s style or if its because its generated crap.
Just an FYI. The FDA is not allowed to announce any food recalls due to the health communications pause the current administration enacted. You can still find this information by visiting USDA the site directly.
