Fucking SHIT. A jet just hit a Blackhawk helicopter in DC. Massive rescue operation is ongoing.
This is the first fatal air crash in the US of a commercial jet since 2013, and the last one with as many potential fatalities as we might see here was even farther back. For it to happen NOW, of all times, and that airport, of all airports i just. Bad. I cannot imagine the hell these families are going to be put through as each end of the political spectrum yanks this crash back and forth.
(I am not implying ANY sort of conspiracy here. AT ALL. But I can damn well promise plenty of other people will be implying exactly that, on both sides, and so many families will be trapped in the middle.)
From my understanding between listening to the air traffic calls and watching the video, and my background with emergency stuff, I’m currently of the belief that the helicopter pilot got confused as to which plane he was being directed to avoid. He did not fly straight into the aircraft deliberately, they came at one another at a right angle. It was just split second bad timing as the final factor. All the lead up factors will take more time to determine, but I firmly believe this was not deliberate.
