There’s this strange trend in liberal and vaguely leftist spaces where this is an obsession with Native imagery and symbolism but absolutely no actual Native presence. Native art and designs everywhere, Native jewelry (almost always turquoise pieces, I don’t see much beadwork and NEVER any quillwork), and a lot of images or Native people, usually staring ahead stoically and raising a fist and just generally looking like inspiring warriors. It’s the modern “progressive” version of the stoic Indian chief.
And there’s never any actual Native people in sight. Idk. Maybe this is just something I’ve encountered but it’s weird.
