i got into ecology because i want to make the world better and now it seems like the left can’t decide if they love or hate this entire field of science. so that’s neat.
you can criticize how eurocentric/western-centric this field is without trashing the whole science of ecology or deciding that mainstays of this field of science are in fact ecofascist bs
look. i spent a good chunk of my time in my ecology courses thinking about how eurocentric this field is, how most of my class was white, how this science is rarely inclusive of local indigenous communities and their traditional methods of land management, etc.
there are valid criticisms of ecology as a science is what i’m saying.
BUT you can’t just look at ecological concepts and theories as if you as a non-expert in this field have any authority to say they’re all bs. ecologists and environmental scientists are literally all that stands between us and a very fucked up future (or in many cases, a very fucked up present! remember that many places are already being affected by climate change) so idk maybe do your best to not encourage people to be skeptical of ecology/environmental science.
